BBC News Magazine takes a scientific approach, and asks why is it that humanity has seemly always prized gold as a currency? With the help of Professor of Chemistry Andrea Sella, Justin Rowlatt runs through the periodic table of elements to explain what it is that made gold so desirable as money for thousands of years.
