10 Kilo 2012 Perth Mint Lunar Year of the Dragon Silver Coin

Have you ever seen a 10 kilogram silver coin before? This is our Facebook maven and content writer Emma Brown showing off the Perth Mint 10 Kilo Lunar Year of the Dragon Silver Coin in our Lutz, Florida showroom. This monster coin is actually legal tender in Australia, with a $300 denomination. The actual value of this is really over 50x that amount!

To give you an idea, 10 kilo is 22 pounds, or in precious metal terms, 321.5 troy ounces of .999 fine (99.9% pure) silver. There’s a reason Emma is resting this thing on a chair!  Check the official video from the Perth Mint below, which shows this humongous thing being made.

Someone asked what that dot is on the 10 Kilo Silver Dragon coin: it’s the “Pearl of Wisdom” on the design, which is struck in a mirror finish in contrast to the matte/specimen finish of the rest of the coin.

What a beautiful young lady. She seems very talented in her writing and knowledge. Employees like her are hard to come buy these days.

Wonderful, immense 10 kilo coin. I love the 1 kg versions by Perth Mint, but these are just too huge to carry and take care of. Imagine the huge weight and what it might cause if you dropped it…
