The Australian Kangaroo gold bullion coin started in 1986 as the Australian Nugget. Each year had a different famous gold nugget found in Australia. The design had a very limited appeal, especially for people outside of Australia, so starting in 1990, the reverse was changed to different kangaroos.
The Kangaroo is one of the very few gold bullion coins that changes the reverse design each year, which gives it a collectible aspect that most other gold bullions don’t have.
Gainesville Coins not only has the 2013 Kangaroo, but we also have many back issues, all the way to some of the early Nugget coins.
