Update: The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to a boy on June 22, 2013.

Kate Middleton, now known as the Duchess of Cambridge, is due to give birth soon. The child, whether a boy or girl, will be third in line to the throne of the United Kingdom. The laws of succession were changed by all 16 Commonwealth nations in 2011 to allow equal rights to male and female heirs, and to also allow them to marry a Catholic. (the law is not retroactive, so Prince Charles’ sister Princess Anne will remain behind Charles’ sons in the line of succession.)

“The birth of the royal baby will be a joyous occasion not just for [the couple] but also for the whole nation, as we prepare to celebrate another remarkable milestone in their life journey together,” Shane Bissett, Director of Commemorative Coin at the Royal Mint, said in a statement.  “It will also be a special day for many mothers and fathers across the country as they too welcome the arrival of their new baby, hence why we wanted to extend this historical moment to them with a lucky silver penny.”

The special silver pennies are available from the Royal Mint for £28 ($43).
