Aussie Scientists Discover Gold Grows On Trees Down Under

October 23rd, 2013 by

The Perth Mint Bullion Blog clues us in to a discovery by Australian geochemists from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). They’ve foundĀ  that eucalyptus trees, which have extremely long tap roots, can actually draw up microscopic particles of underground gold and deposit them in their leaves. This may help mining companies find new deposits in Western Australia.
