  • DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz has been running the Democratic National Committee with a heavy hand, angering members of her own party who see the committee as motivated to protect Hillary Clinton. Wasserman-Schultz has insisted on limiting the party to just 6 debates and barring candidates who participate in non-sanctioned events.
  • Hillary Clinton has nonetheless received a boost in her polling numbers following the first Democratic debate, which many pundits declared a victory for the former Secretary of State.
  • On the Republican side, Donald J. Trump and Ben Carson have been pulling away from Jeb Bush in the most recent polls. Trump and Bush have been going back-and-forth over whether or not the latter’s older brother, George W. Bush, successfully “kept us safe” before, during, and after the 9/11 tragedy.
  • Former Virginia Senator and Secretary of the Navy Jim Webb drops out of the Democratic Party’s primary contest, as he has consistently polled below 1%.
  • The mystery surrounding whether or not Vice President Joe Biden will choose to run for president remains unanswered, as the clock continues to tick for candidates to get listed on the ballot in the early primary states.

  • After Hillary Clinton brought attention to the 5,000% price hike for an HIV drug announced by Turing Pharmaceuticals CEO Martin Shkreli, the executive contributed $2,700 to the Bernie Sanders campaign in an attempt to “meet and discuss” policy with the Vermont Senator. Sanders enraged the now-infamous Shkreli by effectively rejecting the campaign contribution, instead promptly donating it to AIDS research.
