  • The FOMC announcement from the committee’s October meeting will be released @ 2 pm EST. Very few expect the central bank to raise interest rates, though the Fed could signal that it is open to possibly making such a move in December.

  • The third GOP debate takes place tonight in Boulder, Colorado. With the field still rather large, CNBC will host the undercard debate at 6 pm EST and the main debate with the top 10 candidates in the polls in prime time at 8 pm. (Here’s a few things to expect.)
  • Sweden’s central bank plans more QE-style stimulus measures totaling 65 billion kronor ($7.6 billion) in response to expectations of more expansionary monetary policy by the European Central Bank (ECB). Sweden is not a member of the EU monetary union.

  • Thursday is filled with important U.S. economic data, led by jobless claims and third-quarter GDP numbers released at 8:30 am. You can find more important data coming out (including the weekend) with the Econoday Economic Calendar.
  • U.S. Representative Paul Ryan (R-WI), the presumed soon-to-be Speaker of the House, says he intends to support the budget deal recently negotiated by Congress and the White House.
